2009 Genevieve's Choice Awards
My BFFs Ruth, Aileen & Yvonne, plus my cousin Joseph. Even though the one who really drank was Joseph. We just enjoyed plying him with alcohol and posing for pictures with bottles of alcohol in our hands.
2) LIFETIME SERVICE AWARD (longest friends) -
My BFFs since high school are Ruth, Aileen & Yvonne, so they'll always win this award every year. I suppose I should rename this category "Honorary GRAY Member" which this year would go to my cousin Joseph.
3) NEWCOMER AWARD (newest friends) -
I have to say that 2009 was easier to handle with the help of my coworkers Christine G., Malia & Rajeana. As much as I appreciate where I work, without these partners in crime, my days at work would be simply long & arduous.
4) HIGH POINT OF THE YEAR?
Ending it on a high point.
5) LOW POINT OF THE YEAR?
Almost ending it on a low point.
6) BEST HOLIDAY IN 2009?
New Year's Eve. It was a simple family affair at my parents', but I got to witness my nephews, Gareth and Yvonne dancing to Rayman's Raving Rabbid.
7) YOUR SONG FOR 2009
Ugh. I have to pick just one? I listened to a lot of Sara Bareilles this year, but the song with lyrics that resonated at the end of this year is Kelly Clarkson's "Already Gone." But if it's just pure, unadulterated fun? BEP's "Boom Boom Pow", Shakira's "She Wolf", Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" and Ke$ha's "Tik Tok." LoL..
8) MOVIE FOR 2009?
The one I looked forward to the most? Harry Potter. The one that made me cry? UP. The most visually pleasing? Avatar.

Got together with my BFFs and then had a birthday breakfast with Gareth, my parents, Auntie Gay & Uncle Ben, Kuya, Yvonne & my nephews.
10) WHO DID YOU SPEND VALENTINES WITH?
My husband. Oh, and my mother-in-law..LoL. We went to Moclips Ocean Crest Resort. Beautiful & relaxing, even with the snow and crashing wave 100 feet below our room.
11) BEST RELATIONSHIP?
I reconnected with some old friends this year, and to be able to pick up where we'd left off has been truly gratifying.
12) WHAT WERE YOU FOR HALLOWEEN?
Me. I don't dress up for Halloween.
13) RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR?
Any good Thai restaurant works for me, but Thai Bistro is the closest & has such a relaxing ambiance.

Wow. Can't think of one that stood out this year. I really did not read many new books this year. Sad.
15) BEST DECISION MADE THIS YEAR?
To rid my life of unhealthy distractions and focus on only the good.
16) WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR 2010?
Travel a little more. Write a little more. Make date nights really count. Work on the house.
17) MOST STUPID IDEA WHEN DRUNK..
I get enough stupid ideas without drinking. If I did get drunk, the stupidest idea would be to drive. Second would be to text someone. Have you not seen TextFromLastNight.com?
18) TV SHOW OF THE YEAR?
I still love The Office, and enjoy what I call the "surrounding" shows: Parks & Rec, Community, 30 Rock. I just started Netflixing "How I Met Your Mother" before the end of the year and I really like it. But my guilty pleasure is still SYTYCD.

Tag!
1) I feel suffocated if I don't stick a foot out from under the comforter. Gareth calls it my snorkel-foot.
2) I think I look better with glasses than without. No one ever agrees with me, but I don't feel like me without them.
3) Right now, if I had to choose between Jack Bauer of 24 or Jim on The Office, I'd pick Jim. Until the next season of 24.
4) I'd rather shop for books or office supplies than clothes.
5) If sleeping or reading were Olympic sports, I'd win a gold medal in each.
6) My 1st grade teacher's comment on my report card: "Genevieve is very talkative." Scarred me for life. LoL...not really, but it stuck with me.
7) I am the proud owner of six Webkinz: Paddy the Google (Platypus-like), Penny the Pig, Diner the Black Bear, Budweiser the Clydesdale, Moo Baca the Cow and a yet to be named Raccoon. Yes, I play kids games online, but I feel smarter for it.
8) I'm not a very nice person when I'm deprived of rice, coffee or sleep.
9) I'm very proud of the fact even though it's been over 30 years since I left the Philippines, I can still read, understand and speak my native language. I thank my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles & cousins who didn't let me forget. Like Verizon says, "It's the network." But Verizon has nothing on Filipinos.
10) I'm more spirtual than religious, but I have great faith and I do believe prayer works and God never gives us more than we can handle.
And now for taggage:
You!

Just Another Survey
1. Three Names You Go By:
Gen, Embib & Babe
2. Three Things You Are Wearing Right Now:
A blue hoodie, t-shirt & pajama bottoms
Love Survey
You must answer every question TRUTHFULLY
1. Are you currently loving someone?
Absolutely....
2. Have you ever been given a rose?
Many dozens
3. What is your all-time favorite romance movie?
Hmmm...tough one. When Harry Met Sally was the first that came to mind.
5. Do you believe that everyone has a soul-mate?
I do. He or she may not come in the image or role you expected, but there is someone you'll connect with on so many levels, you can't perceive that person to be anything else but your soul-mate.
6. Whats your current problem?
Post-holiday blahs....
7. Have you ever had your heart broken?
You betcha.
8. Your thoughts of online or long distance relationships?
Online friendships, sure. That kind of long distance relationship can last. Online and long distance romantic relationships? It's not ideal. Love & romance needs presence and contact to be real and to flourish & grow. Phone conversations and instant messages only get you so far before you're just repeating yourself to keep the idea that a relationship exists.
9. Have you ever seen a friend as more than a friend?
Yup. Eventually he became my husband.
10.The person you're with right now, do you like spending time with them?
Yes.
11. How many kids do you want to have ?
As many as I can, but I will consider myself more than blessed if I can have even just one.
12. what is/are your favorite colors? Shades of blues & neutrals.
14.Do you believe you truly only love once?
Maybe for the lucky few. But I believe there'll be one or two or more, to whom you might give a greater part of your heart, but you can get it back if they don't treasure it enough and you'll get another chance to give it to someone more deserving.
15. Imagine you're 79 & your spouse just died, would you get re-married?
I don't think so but maybe, if I met someone at that time who inspires me enough to try marriage one more time.
16. how many times has your heart been broken?
Enough to appreciate what I have.
17. What song do you want played at your wedding?
I walked down the aisle to "The Prayer" played on the piano by my cousin, Joseph. My sister-in-law , Phedre, sang "Voi, Che Sapete" from Le Nozze de Figaro (the Marriage of Figaro) during the candle/cord/veil ceremony, and my Uncle Mario sang & played "The Lord's Prayer" with his guitar at it's conclusion. We marched out to our bagpiper, Seamus, playing "Scotland teh Brave." Our first dance was to Gary Valenciano's "How Did You Know."
18.Do you like anyone?
Silly question. I like a lot of people.

I would, but fortunately, I don't have to.
4. Do you believe that everything happens for a reason?
Absolutely.
5. Can you make a dollar in change right now?
With the change in my car probably or my desk. Or both.
6. Which one of your friends do you think would make the best doctor?
Depends on the specialty. But only my cousins who are nurses have the most interest in medicine.
7. Are you afraid of falling in love?
Used to be.
9. Is there someone who pops into your mind at random times?
